Getting paid in dollars is only half the win. If you're a freelancer or remote worker earning from clients abroad, the next question is how to save USD so your money keeps its value and grows.

On Raenest, you have two ways to do that: the USD Vault and the Stablecoin Vault. Both let you earn up to 7% a year, starting from $100. One lets you save USD at a fixed rate for a set period, and the other lets you save USDC and USDT, earn daily and withdraw anytime.

So which one should you use? Here's how each vault works, how they compare and how to choose the right one for your goals.

How the USD Vault works: save USD at a fixed rate

The USD Vault lets you save USD for a set period and earn up to 7% per annum at a fixed rate. You choose how much to save, how long to save it for and what you're saving towards.

  • Pick your savings period. Choose 1, 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, or a custom maturity date where available.
  • Know your earnings upfront. Before you confirm, you'll see your rate, expected interest, maturity date and expected payout.
  • Your rate stays the same. Even if rates change for new plans, your rate is fixed for your whole savings period.
  • Save for different goals. Create a separate plan for each goal, like Vacation, Education or Business, each with its own amount and maturity date.
  • Receive your money at maturity. On your maturity date, you receive your savings plus interest in your USD wallet.

Your interest is calculated on your original savings amount and isn't compounded. Each deposit creates a new plan, so to save more, you start another plan rather than adding to an existing one.

Need your money before your maturity date? You can withdraw early. You'll get back your full savings minus a $1 fee, but you'll give up the interest earned.

How the Stablecoin Vault works: save USDC and USDT, earn daily

The Stablecoin Vault lets you save USDC and USDT and earn up to 7% APY, with no fixed savings period. Your earnings are added to your balance every day, and you can add money or withdraw whenever you want.

  • Fund it your way. Deposit USDC or USDT, or fund it from your USD, NGN, GBP or EUR balance. Fiat is converted into the matching stablecoin.
  • Start earning in 24 hours. Deposits typically process in about 5 minutes, and your balance starts earning 24 hours after your deposit is confirmed.
  • Watch it grow daily. Your earnings are added every day and compound automatically, so your earnings earn too.
  • Withdraw anytime. Withdrawals typically process in about 5 minutes and include your deposit plus all your earnings. You receive them in your matching wallet: USDC to your USDC wallet, USDT to your USDT wallet.

Each withdrawal costs $2 + 0.3%, with the percentage fee capped at $20. The minimum withdrawal is 2 USDC or 2 USDT.

The APY is variable, so it can go up or down with market conditions, and your returns aren't guaranteed. The Stablecoin Vault is available to eligible users across Raenest's markets in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Which vault is best for saving USD as a freelancer?

Choose the USD Vault if:

  • You're saving for something with a date, like tuition abroad, a trip or a relocation.
  • You want to know exactly what you'll earn before you start.
  • You won't need the money until your maturity date.
  • You'd rather your savings stayed in US dollars.

Choose the Stablecoin Vault if:

  • You want your money to keep earning while you can still get to it anytime.
  • You're building an emergency fund or a buffer between client payments.
  • You already receive USDC or USDT and want it to earn while you hold it.
  • You're happy for your earnings to move with the market.

Can you use both?

Yes. If you save USD as a freelancer, you can use the USD Vault for goals with a date and the Stablecoin Vault for money you want close at hand.

For example, a freelancer could save $2,000 in a 12-month USD Vault for next year's tuition. They could then keep $500 in the Stablecoin Vault as an emergency fund that earns daily and is there whenever they need it.

Final thoughts

Whether you're saving for a goal with a date or building a buffer you can reach anytime, Raenest gives you a simple way to save USD and earn while you do. Choose the USD Vault for a fixed rate and a clear payout, or save USDC and USDT in the Stablecoin Vault for daily earnings and full access.
